Philosophies
The following values and philosophies shape and underpin the way in which Ardoch works.
- Belief in the responsibility to work together for the wellbeing of all.
- Belief in a holistic approach to issues and individuals.
- Belief in the 'Rights of the Child' including the right to be safe, the right to food and shelter and the right to education.
- Belief that all people have needs - needs are normal.
- Belief that the education system should be based on the needs and abilities of all young people.
- Belief in supportive, caring, respectful relationships & environments for all.
- Belief in empowerment for young people and their communities.
- Belief in schools and early childhood settings as a prime locations for early intervention and prevention of social/personal problems and difficulties.
- View of young people as simultaneously being 'at promise' and 'at risk'.
- View of the whole community - individuals, families, businesses and groups, as a resource and their contributions - money, service, support and goods, as equally valuable.
